I am a forum newbie and I apologize if I am asking for help on a really common problem. (But I have done a few keyword searches and have not seen this discussed).
I am running into a problem trying to split clips on the timeline, but only with AVI's from frame by frame 8mm movie film captures.
I am using Dodcap (a.k.a. CineCap) to capture from one of Roger Evans' Workprinters (an absolutely fantastic gizmo, IMHO). I then use Dodcap again to perform pulldown (DV Video Encoder, interlaced).
The resulting AVI file looks and feels like the AVI files I am accustomed to from miniDV captures, except no sound.
Now for the problem: After I have added enough clips on the timeline to get the project to, say, 5-10 minutes long, I lose the ability to use either the "split" button and the "S" shortcut key. No error message, no beep, no nothing when I hit the key - it just ignores me!
If I exit MS, then fire it back up and reload the project, I can normally make a couple of splits before it croaks again. Then I have to unload it, etc.
Anyone else seen this problem? Is there a workaround?
Thanks in advance.
Jim
