HERES A COPY OF THE EMAIL TO MOTU TECH SUPPORT WHICH DESCRIBES THE PROBLEM.
Ive just updated to Windows XP and downloaded the driver from the MOTU site for my parallel interface. Boy have I got trouble. Previously with 98 everything was fine apart from the Network card issue which I worked around but the following problem now occurs. From a cold boot the MOTU console software fires up and communicates with the timepiece and all functions are fine. then for no apparent reason it crashes the computer forcing a restart and the the next time you fire up the console it says the drivers are not installed. But the devices are in the device manager so you uninstall both the MOTU Parallel device and the MOTU midi device and reinstall the drivers. Then the next time you fire up the console, it says the interface is not responding. Here is the strange part, when you then cancel the console because it wont open, and try to run any software like Sonic foundry vegas or soundforge the transport on these programs is locked the clok on these programs shows a looping of about a second and the play meters lock also..If you shut down the computer and reboot ,open Vegas 3.0a again this time the transport is oK and the program works fine. Try the MOTU console again and it says The interface is not responding. Cancel out and guess what Vegas has locked up again Close Vegas and restart, its still locked. Need To reboot to get Vegas working again. Whats the problem please?
I have three computers in the studio so i coupled the interface to another and the same thing happens. There are no IRQ problems on either machine IRQ7 is used only by the parallel port . Main computer is a brand new Sony VAIO desktop aand the others are DELL .DOES ANYONE KNOW WHAT THE MOTU IS DOING TO VEGAS, IT SEEMS AS THOUGH SOMETHING IS BEING GRABBED STOPPING VEGAS TRANSPORT FUNCTIONS
