I sound like a broken record.
Have had to use cd architect for burns latley.I figured it was time to get to the bottom of this. And it is probably on my end(I am sure).LOL

This an HP7100i burner(older).
I simply installed it into a rig with win2000 on it.2000 recognizes it off the bat.
I then go and add trax to time line by right clicking and choosing add to track as cd.They all show up fine with breaks between them. The first song does not have any space at the beginning of it for what it is worth. Is this norm?I notice it does in cd architect.
Ok then I choose to burn as disc at once.
Then just burn.

Everything burns just fine ,then you play the disc and it shows your trax but will be confused and sit and spin.
Then it might stumble to say half way through song.
The second song will play fine.It is the lead song which seems to be the culprit.
Maybe lead in track?
This happens everytime with the any songs picked to burn in vegas.
Clues?
I also have adaptec creator 4 on same rig for what it is worth.

I had exactly those symptoms on my first CD try... skipping during the first song; rest apparently OK.
I also got that problem about Vegas not putting in the Redbook-required 2-second initial "blank space" - and then when I try to burn, Vegas slaps my hand and says Redbook standard requires that space.
So I imported a project I had created in CD Architect (which DOES put in the initial space), and tried burning from that, within Vegas.
I tried burning several copies, and got intermittent coasters. Went back and tried CD Architect, though, and got occasional coasters there, too... so that was apparently not a Vegas problem. I defragmented my hard disk, and that seems to have helped with the coaster situation. (Fingers still crossed on that one, though.)

Because Vegas seems not to know how to set up a Redbook-compliant CD project, my workaround (which so far seems to be effective) is that I CREATE my CD projects in CD Architect, but then go to Vegas and open the project there, and burn it within Vegas. I like to burn within Vegas because it has meters in it (unlike CDA), giving me a visual clue to help ensure that all my tracks are at equal volume.
As you can tell from this, I don't go directly from multitrack editing to CD-burning (otherwise I couldn't create the project in CDA). I mix my song files down to stereo, then create the project in CDA, then burn in Vegas.
Kinda roundabout, and I'd like to just do it all in Vegas... but I'm not there yet (or the product isn't).
