Prodad Mercalli 5 Pro Plugin works only in preview

marcinzm wrote on 1/11/2026, 3:49 PM

Hello,

I tried to stabilize footage from my Sony FX3 video camera: 4K 50p 4:2:2 10 bit HEVC 200 Mbps in Prodad Mercalli 5 Pro video effect plugin (OFX) in Vegas Pro 23. I analized the video, but stabilization is only well in preview, during playback in Vegas Pro 23 (latest build). When I render this stabilized video in VP23 to Voukoder to HEVC, the video is still shaky.

Here is a link to raw video file:
https://marcinzmyslowski.synology.me:444/download.php?plik=02_slub_Sony%20FX3_oryginal_002.MP4

I have Nvidia RTX 5090 Tuf Gaming (GPU) and Intel Core 9 Ultra 285K (CPU).

Can you check this file at your side?
Can you help me how to keep stabilization effect also in rendered video file, not only in preview in VP23?

VP23 Prodad 5 Mercalli Pro OFX specification:

Version: 5.0.504.1
Host: vegas230 [23.0.0.302]
NLE: ????
Plugin-Type: VEGAS
Status: Activated

My first video software was Pinnacle, next one was Sony Vegas 8 (I am not sure if remember it correctly). I am also a developer and wedding movie operator and editor. For example: I have created an Android app which let me control Vegas Pro rendering progress level on Android smartphone. I created it for fun, because I also love programming. I also created my own plugin for Audio To Text feature specified usage from Vegas Pro 19. I created proxy creation plugin which uses multiple GPU threads (maximum 3) to create proxy files for Vegas Pro. I also written many others plugin/softwares which enhance my video editing, also wedding editing.

I have Mercalli V6 OFX, and on my computer, with the Mercalli split screen view mode, yes, I can see the stabilization working.

I use Mercalli Pro V5 on VP22, but I have a later version installed (510 instead of 504):

Version: 5.0.510.1
Host: vegas220 [22.0.0.250]

Plugin-Type: VEGAS

The Mercalli V5 installers are not available on the download section of the Prodad website, so I guess you'll have to contact ProDAD support if you want an updated version.

I occasionally have the 'stabilization not applied' problem - to fix it I normally delete the FX from the video event and then apply it again. One thing I have found is that copying the Mercalli FX from one event to another doesn't work properly, so I always add it as a new FX from the Plugin Chooser for each event.

Have you tried the Mercalli V6 OFX plug-in - https://www.prodad.com/Plug-ins-for-your-editing-solution/Mercalli-OFX-DaVinci-Resolve-Magix-Vegas--108931,l-us.html It's not expensive to buy at the moment (around 35 €).

My experience has been that ProDad does not provide specific version downloads like Vegas Pro does; rather, ProDad provides a product installer that will install the latest version update when run - a different installer is not required for each version update.

I just stay with Mercalli 4 which I can use for Batch stabilization with Vegasaur, a huge time saver, instead of applying manually an Mercalli 6 OFX to each event.

I have an account and have purchased both Mercalli V5 and V6 directly from ProDAD, but the V5 installers are not visible on the ProDAD website. Can you see the V5 installers?

My experience has been that ProDad does not provide specific version downloads like Vegas Pro does; rather, ProDad provides a product installer that will install the latest version update when run - a different installer is not required for each version update.

ProDAD updates the installers to new versions but keeps the same filename e.g. I have two versions of the Mercalli V6 OFX installer (mercalli-60-ofx64bit.exe), different file sizes, one for version 6.0.671.1, the other for 6.0.678.2. You can use something like 7-Zip to open the installer files and read the 'version.txt' file inside.

I've just tried download link in the purchase/delivery email I have for V5 - it still works and downloads the latest version of V5 (I assume).

The V5 for Vegas download URL is: http://www.prodad.de/support/mercalli/mercalli-50-vegas64bit.exe

(AFAIK the demo and full version downloads are the same).

I was not able to download latest version of Mercalli V5 OFX, that's why I decided to purchase V6 OFX.

I have another issue, but it is in Prodad Mercalli 6 SAL (Standalone version).
I tried to stabilize video file using Nvidia HEVC, but unfortunately output file has different fps than in the original file.
My original file is: 50p (fps)
but output stabilized file is: 50.087p (fps).

It only happens when I used Nvidia GPU export.
When I save file into ProRes the output fps is: 50p (the same as original fps).

Do you have the same issue?

Here were my settings in Prodad 6 SAL.

If you are bored, drink water, you will want to pee. -> Albert Einstein - my idol!

I am 46. I have been creating videos since 2009 (the date when my first daughter was born in).

So you had the same settings as mine.

The only difference that you export the file without using Nvidia GPU.
I was chatting with chatgpt and if it is a truth Prodad Mercalli 6 SAL doesn't like 50fps while exporting using NVENC HEVC. It is a common bug as it was written. Chatgpt wrote me that 50p is so friendly as 30p 60p or 23.97 etc. in Prodad Mercalli 6 SAL.

Here is a link to the file that V6 SAL stabilized... Oh, I never use HEVC on my computer though.

Thank you. ChatGPT wrote me that this bug only occurs when someone tries to export to HEVC using Nvidia GPU (based on 50p). You exported file with AVC codec, and I exported file with HEVC codec.

Ok... rendered to MP4 CPU HEVC+AC3 (h265) and still constant 50fps. Have you tried just using your CPU for rendering?

I rendered to mp4 cpu HEVC AC3 (h265) and I have constant 50fps - the same as you

But when I renders to mp4 Nvidia AVC+AC3 (h264) and I get 50.116FPS.

So it is because of Nvidia, no matter if I render to h265 nor h264.
