Production Assist not quite clear

What I’ve read about PA in some threads and tried to apply it to a project

example

1. I do a monthly comedian clip..the intro jingle and end clip are consistent but the line-up always changes also in time length

I create the intro jingle and the end clip and save as 2 separate veg files in a specified folder
Then I compose the line-up which I update weekly save as veg file in same folder

So in Vegas I create a Template called comedian_comp with 3 empty events on timeline
Save this as a template..HOW? will an option become available?

Then in PA as a stand alone I call in the comedian_comp template in and add the 3 veg files
Press ok

A new instance of Vegas fires up and renders the clip

Is this correct?

Production Assistant looks in a folder that it creates under My Documents for it's templates. Any veg file placed in that folder will show up in the template dropdown list of the launcher.

I would actually create a template that has the intro and ending already in it with empty events in between. If it's the same each week, why bother specifying it again and again. Then you just need to feed the files that change each week. This is what we do for the skydiving videos. Sometimes we have less files than empty events so we just delete the extra empty events and use the "close gaps" function to fill in the timeline. Perhaps in the future I can add a "remove unused media slugs" option to easily remove the empty events that are not use. It seems like this might be useful.

Thanks JR

I have put in an order for Pro 9 and PA and am keen to try it out

Now that this extra function is available it means mentally processing the workflow a little differently but I can already see where it can save time

Thanks
