Professional Looking Title Cards?

Duderdude2 wrote on 1/31/2005, 11:08 AM
I'm not sure if this is the right forum, but I figured you guys would be a good bunch to ask.

I'm trying to design a title card that I can use through my videos to introduce various sections. Right now, I simply have black text against a white background, but it's not that professional looking.

Does anyone have any idea of how I can make a sleek, clean, professional looking title card?

How about titles with transparant background, placed on a track above appropriate video or other graphic?

Go to one of the sites that sells tv backgrounds and such, like JUMP BACKS. Then steal their ideas. (not their actual files or video, just the design and look).

Shoot video or stills of things around your house, and use EFFX such as blur, solarize, etc to create backgrounds.

Motion graphics background (I got a bunch free with Vegas, also oodles on the web, some of the best are from Digital Juice and 12inchdesign).

Any suitable text color (requires some care), with a drop shadow to make it easier to read.

^ You just reminded me about a disc that came with my version of vegas that contained 10 free samples of motion backgrounds. I had completley forgotten about it, hopefullu one of them will work.

Thanks for the tips guys.

... for backgrounds, you could also do a search here with keyword "Mainconcept".
They used to offer free backgrounds every month on their site and I know there is some place on the web that stocks'em all...

Thanks, do you happen to remember the site that stocked their free samples?

Well, I looked at all of the sites mentioned, and while they all have some very awesome backgrounds, I'm noticing a trend that most of the videos are quite dark (in terms of brightness).

Are there any websites that offer lighter and brighter backgrounds (something that black text would show up well against)?

Thanks.

If you find one that you like, you could alter it with the color correction or luminance tools to make it brighter. Just an idea.

I had considered that, but I can't find the tool in Vegas for color correction.

Something to keep in mind: They look much darker in the computer screen. You should view them on an external monitor. Everything looks much brighter. Perhaps you already know this; some people don't...

Well, the videos I'll be creating will also be viewed on a computer screen.

That's an interesting thing to note though, thanks.

You could also use Media Generators with keyframed text.

Also try Video FX. I only discovered how to use it a couple of days ago and went wild trying out almost every single one. Again, along with keyframing (or not) you could creat some unique titles/logos.
