professional TV video ... = vegas possibilities?

So everyone knows stuff like VH1's TOP 100 best ... (put anything here)..ha.
I'm just wondering on a show like that, how do they do all of those text animations invetween video?

and on something like Blind Date...
How do they do all of those cartoon and text overlays?

in general on TV...what are all of those guys using?! something way over us all being at home computers?

To the amount of overlays and things that go into just one tv show like either of those, it's crazy ot fathom how long that would take to render in vegas!! haha. I don't know, just kind of interested in what they use and if it's available to us, and if the learning curve is similar to vegas, and/or if it can even be used with vegas! haha

thanks guys.

Something like Combustion eats these things. Seems to be around the same price as Vegas and does background rendering. Steep learning curve I'd guess but there's no simple paradigm for this kind of stuff.
Remember in the world of broadcast time is serious money, if you only need to do this stuff once in a year and your time is your own Vegas will serve you well. If you're seriously trying to make money no client is going to pay for how long it'll take to do many of these things in Vegas, well not if you're charging enough per hour so you can eat and you do them on a regular basis.

Combustion is not hard to learn for common tasks. Perhaps one tenth of the effort to learn After Effects. The UI is not perfect, but it is fairly intuitive.

For any tool, when you want to use its full potential, it takes more effort to understand the choices that a very flexible architecture gives you. Vegas users certainly know this.

Gary M. Davis' new book from Focal Press is a good way to learn Combustion, as is the large number of free tuts available online, and of course The Street Productions' DVDs.

you probably will find that most text you see on broadcast TV is generated by some product of chyron - Chyron’s Lyric graphics/animation software has a direct plug in to any AVID product also ....

Welll i guess this stuff is wayyyyyy over my head anyway, but i wish there was a demo to try it or something - i just think it's crazy how it's all done.

think of something like NFL games, soooooooo much stuff going on in those, ha.
