I'm also XP Pro, sp1, etc. with V5b since it was introduced. No problems with rendering. Did it work before? In what version? Anything changed at all between when it worked and now it doesn't? Something's not adding up. Darryl

I've been having the same problem. But I don't know if it is related to the 5b or some other program.

I don't know what this might be but I defragged the drives, transfer the big files to the other drive (not the OS drive) and the problem remains.

The file that I am trying to render is a 6gig file. May this be causing the problem?

I put this problem on another thread but nobody (except thehappyfriar) tried or knew how to answer that.

move all your video files to drives other than c:, for large rendering, make sure that all drives have excess space, ie. 2.5*renderingsize=space, for temp rendering/paging use 3.7*rendering size calc,( try to avoid using c: for temp rendering). avoid using secondary drives that are fat32 and under 7200 rpm, under 8meg cache on disk, ..... memory needs to be >512meg for speed and disk management needs. Plus check if any other program is demanding memory resources that are greater that 22%, plus check any anti virus software is being paged during file accessing, use clt+alt+del for task sch for a quick check.
