program locks up with Nikon d5100 video

I recently started using video from my new Nikon D5100. After dragging in several videos from the hard-drive via the Explorer tab, the software locks up and I get "Program Not Respondng".
I am using MS HD Platinum 10 and haven't had any problems until using the native MOV video from the D5100.

I tried reinstalling the MS software, but it is still happening. The only other thing I can think of is to convert the MOV files to MPG or AVI; but that will be time consuming.

Anyone else having this problem or suggestions?

Please post your system specs.
Try the trial version of VMS11 with your footage.
Make sure you "match media properties" in your project.
If that is still too slow on your system, the free GoPro Cineform or Avid DNxHD codecs are used as intermediates by many.

Thanks for the feedback.

I have Windows 7 Home Premium, Intel i3 processor, $ GB RAM, 64 bit .

I'm wondering about Virtual Memory? Any thoughts?

Also, you mentioned GoPro Cineform or Avid DNxHD. Where can I get those?

Google for "GoPro Cineform Studio" and "Avid LE 2.3.4"

I'm use a D7000 on a AMD 945 Quad 3 ghz with 4 gig ram and it does fine even with projects as large as an hour. I think you need a little more horsepower in your CPU.

First do what musicvid told you, to install the TRIAL of Platinum 11. If it doesn't crash with 11, then upgrade to 11.
