Progressive scan DVD project?

I have usually just used the default settings for my DVD projects but recently wanted to render progressive scan MPG-2 files then create a progressive scan DVD. It appears that you can't choose that option. In my DVD-A project properties, the "Progressive" option is greyed out and is set on "No". The manual suggests that you can choose "yes' or "auto" but I don't have the option.

Anyone know how to make that happen?

Do you not intend to play your video on a TV and DVD player? Standard DVDs are interlaced.

There is no such thing as a 25p or 30p DVD.
24p source is flagged as NTSC or PAL interlaced with pulldown.
Therefore you have no progressive option for a DVD.

Don't be confused about the term "progressive scan." which describes the ability of so-equipped players to output progressive through HDMI or Component.

Thanks for the replies. I suspected that DVD's are only interlaced but was confused with the progessive scan output of most DVD players now to our progressive scan TV's. That makes it clearer how I should render the videos out as MPEG's too and why I was getting some artifacts when rendered Progressive Scan MPEG-2's when compared to the default interlaced settings.

Progressive scan players output interlaced to conventional analog outputs (composite, svhs, rf) and progressive to component, dvi, and hdmi for so-equipped screens. All DVD source is flagged (or actual) interlaced. Hope that helps.
