Progressive video AVI's

Does anyone know what Vegas 5 does when generating a progressive avi from an interleaved DV source file? Doubling each field line? Combining fields (i.e. 1&2, 2&3, 3&4, etc.)? Using the progressive video option when rendering slides (720x480 still) yields superiour results, but often I need to combine slides with interleaved DV. Just wondering how best to do this. I could render each DV segment using the progressive option, then combine the resulting avi with one made of my slides and select progressive video for the final rendering. I could leave the source clips as interleaved, then mix these clips with the progressively rendered slides and do the final rendering as progressive, etc. Since I don't know what Vegas does when progressively rendering interleaved source files, I'm not sure what combination will yield the best overall results.

Vegas can blend fields or interpolate fields for removing interlacing. Stills will always look better in progressive scan mode, because they are a full frame image. Keep in mind, eventually the stills will be viewed as interlaced, when sent to any television that isn't progressive scan (most aren't) so the question is whether you want to trust the broadcast mechanism to interlace your stills or if you want to control that yourself.
If you are displaying only on computer or progressive scan display, then there is no need to worry about it, just do everything progressive.
