Project Markers Gone

Got to be I missed a tick box somewhere, but last night I rendered an hour and a half show (time crunch of course) with 15 chapter markers using Vegas 6d. It was NTSC DVD A widescreen video stream, AC3 audio. I had already created the menu page in DVDA 3 so this morning I bring the video into DVDA and click LOAD MARKERS. No markers are in the file. In the RENDER dialogue I had checked Save Project Marker in Media File. I did another project last week and this process worked fine. Any suggestions on what option I missed?

None. I have seen this happen before and I can’t explain it either. Sometimes the markers just don’t get saved in the MPEG file and it’s intermittent so it’s hard to track down why.

You can use Wil Liu’s excellent script DVDA chapter from Vegas marker (a.k.a. wil_mksfl.js) to rebuild the marker file only from the original Vegas project and re-import it into DVDA. I use ths all the time.

I too have had this happen many times. I agree, it is some sort of bug. I think it may have to do with date/time stamps on the files because I have sometimes cured the problem by closing DVDA, opening the MPEG file in some application, and then re-starting DVDA. I can't remember the steps.

Usually I just use the script that Johnny Roy recommends. It works great, although you have to run it before you open the project in DVDA. If you run it while you have the project open, then the new marker file will not be recognized.

Does the script work in V6?
