I have a 40 minute movie I made and when I open DVD Architect to brn the disc I get the message "project too large for selected media". I burn the disk anyway. Why am I getting this message with a 40 minute movie?
It's not the length of the movie that is critical, it is the amount of data. You can trade off quality for movie length (within certain limits) for a given total amount of data. A DVD holds 4.7 GB and the video, audio, subtitles (if any) and menus must total less than this. Be aware that Windows Explorer reports sizes in GiB (2^30 bytes), not GB (10^9 bytes), so check the number of bytes in the file propeties, or keep the size under 4.37 GiB. The size may alternatively be reported in KB, but actually KiB, where 1 KiB = 2^10 = 1024 bytes.
That said, DVDA always seems to panic and report that there is not enough space when there is. If you think that this might be the case, first create the DVD image without burning, check the size, and if OK, burn anyway.
