Project Won't OPen In Vegas 13

A friend loaded a vegas file created on Vegas 12 into my system. But when I try to open it
I get an error message saying that the file was created on an older version of Vegas. The puzzling thing is I have Vegas 13 on my system, But it keeps opening Vegas 10. Do I have to uninstall Vegas 10 to get the file to open in Vegas 13?

You have associate .veg files with VP13, then it should open in VP13. You can also right click the file and to "Open with.." to select which program will open the file.
