project wont open

this is a project from 2007, some other (earlier versions of same project) projects files in same folder do open. I tried using the bak and it wont open either.

any solutions?

Are you opening this in the same version of Vegas that it was created?

If you want to try opening the "XXX.veg.bak" file, you need to first rename it to simply "XXX.veg"

I did the renaming thing...didnt work.

I don't think its the same version of Vegas (was probably 7 that was created it and now in 8c)

I've had this issue years ago, old projects caused a crash in the Media Generator .dll. No one could resolve this. I now include the full version number of Vegas in the project name and keep every point release archived, just to be sure to be sure.

i installed 7 and it wont open using that either.

with 7 and/or 8 the project just hangs with the hourglass

i took it to a friends who has 9 and he got this message trying to open it:

"An error occurred loading the project file xxxxx.veg.

do you have a second editing computer? I had a similar thing happen. Nothing worked. I switched over to my other computer and pasted the folder to the HDD. Opened no problem. Tried it again on the computer I edited it on... wouldn't open.
