Promotional Email - any advantage?

Wolfgang S. wrote on 4/19/2004, 6:50 AM
Well, I have seen that there are now prices available, for a lot of different upgrades.

However, the order-form on your homepage foresees in addition input for promotional emails. So, will there be another price advantage from such promotional emails, even if such emails have not been distributet yet?

And -during the last days I tried to register for such emails via "promotions@sonypictures.com"- and failed always with an error message (message that "promotions@sonypictures.com" is not available).

You've gotten an e-mail? I haven't. I'm waiting. :)
Wolfgang S. wrote on 4/19/2004, 7:09 AM
No, I have not been able to register for that - so I have not received any email.

I wonder why that has not worked - and I ask myself if promotional emails will come or not - and if they will bring advantages or not.

The only way to learn this is to sit it out.

Maybe, maybe not. There could also be the idea for a special promotional gift for registered users...
:-))

I haven't received one either. I'll wait patiently I promise... :-) I've been a registered user of pretty much all their products for a LONG time, so hopefully I'll get mine soon. LOL

I know I for one will be really upset if they do that again. I know with the upgrade to Vegas 4 all of the loyal useres like myself ordered it the day it came out, then a few weeks later they offered the free texture loops and I think a lower price. I took a chance and ordered it today anyway. Hopefully they won't screw the loyal users again!

I wanted to order (got V4 & want to upgrade to V5+DVDA) but their order page told me they no longer sold the upgrade from Vegas to Vegas+DVDA. I thought WTF? They also don't give a discount for downloading it eigther. :(
Wolfgang S. wrote on 4/19/2004, 8:21 AM
No, it still seems to work - since I will also order that, and tried it some seconds ago.

Maybe a typo, or you got the wrong product?

I tried it a few minutes ago and it worked. When I first tried it they must not of had it updated yet. :) Now i'm just waiting to see if I get a discount in my e-mail :)

Well, they screwed me again! I ordered my upgrade to Vegas 5 this morning for $200....a few minutes ago I get a e-mail saying I can get it for $149! Nothing but a busy signal at the Sony customer service line. Hopefully I will be able to get through to them and get a $50 refund!
Grazie wrote on 4/19/2004, 9:24 AM
So, talk with Customer services . .has to be the answer yeah? Hope you get a result . .. I'm still waiting .. .

Still waiting.... :(

(but I ALMOST learned this the hard way back in the SoFo days! That's why I will always wait to see if there's an e-mail!)

David.

I'm pretty confident that I will get a refund. After all they did send me the free texture loops after this happened last year. It's just kind of annoying that's all.

The $249 is still the same price for the Vegas + DVD though.
It's just the standard Vegas upgrade that is cheaper.

Interesting definition of "screwed". Man I wouldn't want to be in customer service.
Jsnkc wrote on 4/19/2004, 9:33 AM
Well, maybe screwed it too harsh of a word :) If they refund me $50 that is.
I think next time they need to maybe send out these e-mails to the loyal customers Before they post the order form on the website.

The customer service line has been just a busy signal for the last half hour, I'm sure there are a lot of people calling in with the same complaint.

Yes I thought last time I got my email at like 2am... ?!?
dvdude wrote on 4/19/2004, 9:38 AM
Ok - I'm officially confused. I got the email but it seems that:

The $50 incentive only applies to Vegas 5 - not Vegas 5 + DVD?

The price for the upgrade for Vegas 5 + DVD is the same in the email and on the site, the upgrade for Vegas 5 only is different between the email and the site.

Or am I simply not being offered a "special" (I do have DVDA however.

I've always received my e-mail well after the fact!
