ProShow Producer: more than just slide shows.

I am rushing a sort of video montage / slideshow for an event tonight, making up for somebody who dropped the ball and didn't deliver. Anyway, I'm using the slideshow program Proshow Producer because it would take more time than I have to do nice layers on the slideshow parts. Rather than use a video editor on the slideshow parts, I opted to use a slideshow editor on the video parts.

Anyway, the point is that ProShow Producer just rocks, even for video. There are many video projects that it wouldn't be appropriate for, but for a montage where you want all sorts of layers flying in and out with both video and stills, this is just an incredible tool.

I Second that two big thumbs up. We have done several slideshow productions for clients with Produce and have had great luck. The only downside is there is so much to learn and you can customize everthing, that you can get lost in the details.

But man, I do not think any other program out there can come close to the professional level and quick set up that Produce has. It is like Smartsound in that it has a magic algirithim that can do some ammazing stuff very fast.

I really love the add on slide styles that you can buy to help create many kinds of shows.

I found some training stuff on youtube that is quite good. http://www.youtube.com/user/TayRen0319

She is really good at showing the power of Producer.

Me too - I got the recommendation a few years back here - and I use it a lot and bought several extras for it

I've been using it for years. It only gets better each year. Buying style packs makes producing slick slideshows a breeze.

Laurence, I want to make certain I understand correctly (which isn't always the case).

You can bring video clips into ProShow and it will manipulate those clips the same way it does stills, turning them into a true "video" montage?

Yes, that is exactly what it can do, though with 1080p video, it can be next to impossible to preview.

Thanks, Laurence, that's good to know.

These days all the catagories are merging: still camera vs camcorder, video editor vs slideshow editor. You can shoot video with a still camera and you can edit video with a slideshow program. There are times when the best tool for the job is not your usual option.
