Hi Jerry,
Funny, I actually had this bug in V8. For a while it was 100% repeatable, everytime I got to a certain font (there were probably about 7 or so that did it), it would crash.
Lately it hasn't happened, and as before I was just working around it-not selecting those fonts- I don't know exactly what I changed cause it wasn't such a big deal (and I had other HUGE render issues to content with)

I had just assumed it was something in my fonts, but maybe a combination of Vegas updates, window updates and settings change took care of it? I'll try crashing it again to see if I can repeat it.

Sorry I'm not much more help here, but you definitely weren't the only one!

Try reducing video accelerator speed on your vid card.

Just tried it on this computer and I can cause Protype to crash. Huh, I kinda forgot about this.

Spot-thanks for that, I guess you mean to change that in the video card settings and not some Vegas preferences right? I'll see if that works.

Also, I guess I did post about this before:

Jerry, can you see exactly which fonts are causing your crashes? Maybe its the same font(s) on both are sides.

In fact, right now "extra glyphlets" is the ONLY font to crash protype. And this font is not available in the regular text tool, wordpad or any of the Adobe programs.

I'm now searching my hard drive to see if I even have it-but it appears that protype is trying to find a font I don't even have and that is what is causing the crash.

Okay, nope nothing on my hard drives. So, the question is, how do I get Protype to stop giving me this font as an option?

Also, I know why the crashes has stopped, we moved to a new computer to do the heavy editing, and protype on that computer does not display this font (or any other font that can crash it.)

So does anybody know how to do this-remove a font from protype's list?

I guess I could just go find "extra glyphlets" and install that...

I tracked this to "boopee.ttf". I removed this font and I can now scroll through the fonts without crash. I updated my trouble ticket to reflect this. I would still maintain that Vegas should handle this type of error more elegantly than a crash, but I suppose SCS has bigger 9a fish to fry at the moment ;-(.
