proxy files crash vegas video

when i capture large file +500mgs-4gigs ..they capture and
play back thru VV capture with no problems...
when i open these files in VV timeline -VV says it must
create a audio proxy file ..during the proxy process approx
40% of the time it will say a error occured and VV will
close ... i have tried repeatedly to open these files in
VV timeline . the only current solution is to re-capture
those clips that would not open ... this is getting a bit
tiresome ... waiting for VV to capture a 20min clip and
then NOT being able to use it ..
i want to start capturing 1 hour clips BUT i would hate to
take the time and then NOT have it be able to open in VV
timeline
AGAIN these clips will open in VV capture program ...and
they will open in MS6......

running win2K , VV 2.0b , 20gig OS drive fat 32 , 80gig
video drives NFTS ..933mhz, 256ram

I had your EXACT problem. I don't think it is related to the size of
the file captured because I have successfully captured 45 minute
clips with no problem. I have a Canon GL1 camera that I used to use
as the "play" device when capturing: never a problem no matter how
big the file. Then I started using my JVC combo DV/S-VHS VCR as the
play device, and the problem started. So I figured it was some kind
of little glitch in the captured audio file that was somehow
introduced by the JVC.
I use VV Vidcap 2.0B, and VV 2.0A. I had the problem you describe
when I tried VV2.0B so I went back to 2.0A but still had the problem
with some files that were captured on the JVC. They played fine
everywhere, but VV could not make the proxy file. If you hear
anymore about this, please let me know.

hello barbara ... today i think Dave solved the problem .. i had a
aviplug.dll version 1.0.0170 installed .... dave sent me a version
1.0.0.175 ... i installed it and so far it has worked ... this AM i
captured 3 -30min clips and i could NOT open em ... then i recieved
new aviplug and i can now open them ... so you might see what version
aviplug.dll you have .......

i have a canon GL1 and a elura i use to digitize ... also have
panasonic dv 2000 but thats a different story !!!!!!!!!!
