Proxy Rendering....working well on MOV files...

I shoot with two Nikons that produce ACHD stuff in a MOV wrapper. Using the new proxy tool (go to you project media, right click and chose proxy). I did not realize that this was a tool in 13, that and color matching are going to save me a lot of time.

Does anyone know where the proxy files are put on the system?

Its in the same folder as the original clip, with the same filename plus an extension of .sfvp0.

It doesn't downsize enough in my opinion. SInce the object is to allow the use of low power hardware I would have expected it to convert HD into SD but it appears to turn 1080p into 720p. A 50MB .MOV clip is reduced to 25MB mpeg2. One plan would be for it to roughly match the preview quality setting but that doesn't seem to be the case.

It works well enough but editing would be even more whizzy in SD. I could have done with it a few versions ago when getting started in HD. It will come into it's own when we get into 4K. And we will wont we?

Yes, 4K is coming. My next camera body I'm sure will have 4K and that is why I'm looking to build a new computer this year. Eventually I might get pushed into Vegas PRO, but I'm amazing at the capabilities they have put in 13.
