PTT & Safe Areas & SONY Text? Not the same?

OK, I have a ProType Titler Event. I have it rolling on and off the screen. Good.

I notice that it is rolling on and off well within the Safe Area on the Visible Frame. Good.

I see there is a Safe Area Overlay that I can adjust. But this does nothing to increase the distance left or right of the appearance or disappearance of the Text, I know this is true from the other safe areas we use. Please read below so you can tell me in which case what does this for me? Whatever I do in PTT I can not manipulate the, seems to be, fixed safe area OR movement of the PTT text to move more towards the frame edge?

O .. . K . . ..

I now place a standard SONY Text Event on the Timeline. I can use the Placement tool and can move the WHOLE "Sample Text" until it either appears or disappears. And I can take the Text to the edge of the screen.

So to recap, for getting Text towards the Edge:

PTT = No

Sample Text = Yes

TIA

I'm rather confused by your question.
A Safe Area Generator only creates markers, it (should) never affect anything. The ones in the Vegas Preview Monitor are adjustable because there's no real standard Safe Area.
Further on though your question seems to change to being able to move text in PTT right off the screen. OK, I don't know the answer to that one but that's somehow tangled up with the safe area generator in PTT.

If I ignore all the bits about Safe Area Generators then does your question simply resolve to the very last bit i.e. how can I get PTT to move text outside the frame?

Yes

Haha! Well there's a "Gotcha!" - and no mistake . . .

Previously I had the PTT Event being Parent Motioned, from an upper track. I Had the Event escaping in 3-D space. Nothing new there . . . Now wanting to "revert" to the Pre-Parent Motion setup I Promoted the Child PTT Track. However what I was seeing was the "frame" of the, albeit, now REMOVED Parent Motion still being engaged. How do I know this? Well I reopened the same VEG and NOW the framing is what I had expected to see. The PTT Text is going to the edge.

So, openning and closing might have done it for me? It certainly gave PTT a jolt in the nether regions!

Parents sticking around? - Gotcha!

I'm glad you got that sorted. I was going to try to nut it out for you but that meant delving into PTT which is not my favourite place in Vegas.

So, which is?

"So, which is?"

Anywhere else.
Well OK my favourite thing to be doing with Vegas is mixing audio with lots of busses. All those meters bouncing away....And I just rediscovered using automation. It's a bit of a bear trying to select the right automation envelope. I just use this to punch out the mids on a music tracks so I have same space to fit VOs. Lovely, lovely stuff. VO comes in, pull mids down, VO finishes, pull mids up. Blown two clients away in the last week doing this. One of them just blew a motza on a new Mac and FCE, man did he look sad. I asked him to go home and render me out a QT minus the post audio. He rang me back to say it'd take 4 hours to render. Three hours later he rings me back to say it's crashed Ha Ha :)
Now if only Vegas had the option of those retro looking VU meters...
And yes, I want them ILLUMINATED and DIMMABLE. not that much to ask for is it?

Back to the problem at hand.
I can repo your problem. Add first PTT event. Add curve to X Offset. Add keyframes and make text go from frame left to right. Preview Monitor shows me what I'm doing. Good.

Add second PTT event, do as above. I cannot see the the text move in the preview window.
Go back to first PTT event, move keyframe values around and I can see what I'm doing in the preview monitor.
I checked several times and made 100% certain I had the T/L playhead positioned correctly.
It should work and it doesn't. Well I can't see that we're doing anything wrong.

Now that I've been into PTT (again) ick !
I wasted a fair amount of time trying to add a curve to the text position. Thankfully I eventually nutted out that I cannot do that. Instead I have to add a curve to the offset(s).
