PTT V5 stutters - V4 OK

I printed a 1hr35min avi file created in V5 to my D8 camcorder (and also passed through to SVHS tape). Noticed a couple spots where video apparently judders - just for a second or so in about three spots.

Was going to let it go, but, I have some time before I have to deliver copies of this piece, so, figured I'd check to see if I can't eliminate these imperfections.

I can right click on the file and play in in Windows Media Player and it is smooth as silk, no imperfections. Hmmm.

Next, I loaded the file from within vidcap5. If I then click the play button to preview, it is very, very jerky - totally not acceptable - as though the drive deliverying the video stream isn't up to the task.

Same is true if I go to preferences and click for "allow full screen preview".

I opened Vegas 4 (running the most recent updated version), loaded the same file into vidcap4, and it previews just fine. I'm going to try reprinting to my camcorder/SVHS machines from V4 to see if the minor judders still show up - BUT, I'm really curious as to why vidcap5 is choking on previewing this file while vidcap4 is not. Fortunately, the printed result from vidcap5 isn't at all as bad as the preview, but, I'm thinking something must be wrong with my v5 setup for this to be happening - correct me if I'm wrong, but both PTT modules are the same from v4 to v5, yes?

So, did I alter something or is there some problem with my v5 installation?

Thanks in advance for your help.

For what it's worth, from the PTT window, I can click the Preview on Device icon in either vidcap4 or vidcap5 and the file plays smoothly.

I did reprint the file using vidcap4 and that resulted in a perfect copy - no judders at all.

are your install, media, prerender, capture, and temp drives all the same in V4 and V5?

I changed my temp files folder in V5 from the D drive to a directory I created on the C drive. That's the only change. Would Vegas use temp files during preview of a finished avi?

Just curious.

Directories for all else are the same.
