You need to make an acknowledgement of the source in the credits of your video otherwise free for private use. There are fees applicable if you are producing a video for commercial application.

Kevin Macleod: Very talented, very prolific, very generous. You'll find his music in videos all over YouTube. See his FAQ about use and crediting him.

MusOpen: Mostly classical, orchestral, or piano music, public domain. Download it and use it as you please. Some of the orchestral pieces are not the greatest quality, but some (especially the US military bands) are indeed high quality. The solo piano pieces are generally good. But all of it is FREE to use.

Has anyone used "copy protected" music and obtained permission to use it. I am willing to pay for use, but I've been trying to find information and can't find it. If any of you has done this, please let me know how to go about it.

AFAIK there are no set rates for using copyright music, it's by negotiation with the owners of the recorded work. If the music is available for sale via CD or similar, you have to contact the record company who alerts the publisher then maybe the owners.

All the enquiries I know of have come to nothing, usually the price is set to high and negotiations become too difficult over time. High profile groups get enquiries every day.

Here are some sites for sound effects...one is Royalty Free...one is for purchase.

The Royalty Free sounds are very brief...but maybe you could keep repeating to get the lenth you need.
