pulling apart rendered DVD format

Had my computer crash a while ago containing all info for a DVD I was putting together. It was meant to be a dual layer disc but I rendered a rough draft onto two single layer DVDs using DVD arch. 3.0. Is there any possible program that I can use to rip apart the video back to mpeg 2 format so I can tweek the layout for the finished product??

The quickest method is to simply re-name the VOB files to MPGs and import them into DVDA.

PgcDemux works well to strip out m2v, ac3, subs, and cell times.

You should have 2 mpg2 videos -- 2 single sided layouts. Use Cuttermaran to join them if you want one video file without re-encoding... you'll probably want to convert your 2 ac3 files to wav, and use those with Cuttermaran at the same time, but double check sync & the join in Vegas before re-rendering to ac3. You *Might* get away just joining the 2 ac3s, but in my experience it's iffy.

Optionally I've found that muxing m2v video without supplying an audio track in TMPGEnc's MPG Tools converts the video into an mpg file that DVDA likes MUCH better than the average m2v.

The celltimes text file lists chapter points -- as DVDA can't set cells without chapter points you can use as is... Select a time in the text file and copy -> double click the time display for DVDA's timeline -> ctrl-v to paste -> enter to go there -> m & then enter to set the chapter... adjust if nec for key frame.

Since subs will be graphics rather than text format, if you have them it can be a bit of work -- probably easiest using one of the apps to OCR & convert to srt, join 2 halves, convert to Mac DVD Studio Pro, and import.
