Putting .gif animations in Sony vegas 11.0

I created a .gif animation in Photoshop and wanted to use it as a segment of a video
presentation. However, when I import the animated clip into Sony vegas Platinum 11.0,Serif Movie PlusX5 or Windows Movie Maker, the result is the same- The video frames are ghosted- meaning frames are doubled on each exposure to create a "ghosting" effect. I also tried converting the .gif file to .avi ,then to .mov file and then putting that file into Sony vegas. .Mov Video clip still ghosted .Generally speaking, do video editing programs support the clean presentation of animated .gifs?
Thanks for your help..

Vegas will read the frame timing from the .gif file and spread each .gif frame out over as many project frames as necessary to preserve the timing. If the frame rates don't match then Vegas will combine adjacent frames to try to simulate smooth motion. This is the ghosting you are seeing. With the .gif file on the timeline (rather than the other versions you've made of it), right-mouse-button click on the event and choose Switches / Disable resample.

If you want your .gif image to match the project frame-by-frame exactly then you'll have to be careful to choose the right timing when you save it in Photoshop. 29.97fps will be about 33.37 milliseconds, but you can only enter an integer. 33 may be close enough for very short animations. Better yet would be to export it from photoshop as a series of still images and then use Vegas' import still image sequence function, which will guarantee a perfect frame match.

Thanks Chienworks for your explanation of the process and for your suggestions on how to make a .gif file work in Sony vegas. Checking the switches/desample erased the ghosting-thanks much!
