Online help was not helpful (as usual) so I turned to the manual and found it on p. 341:

Select this checkbox if you want Vegas software to extend marker and region lines across tracks in the timeline. When the checkbox is cleared, marker lines are only drawn when Enable Snapping is turned on.

Mike
p.s. I prefer my marker lines extended across all tracks

. but "drawn" as dotted lines? They aren't made invisible?

Now that's what I got/understood from "Always Draw Maker Lines" as an option to have or not to have visible?

I thought that the option NOT to have them "drawn" makes me think that NOT having them drawn would make them invisible? So, here, NOT having them drawn means NOT having them drawn as continuous LINES - but as DOTTED lines instead?

Surely having an option to NOT having them drawn would mean that they would disappear? Now THAT would be a benefit!! PLUS, having them "redrawn" as dotted lines is kinda more confusing than continuous.

Maybe this is another NTSC vs. PAL issue because, when I tried it earlier, they disappear!! The only thing left was the marker on the top of the timeline.

Oh realllly Mike!!! Not here PAL! Hah Pal!! I get these dotted lines instead of the COMPLETE lines. Nothing in-between.

I'm glad I asked 'cos I thought I was going bonkers. So you must have been thinking, "Why on Earth is this chap asking such an obtuse question? - It's to MAKE the things disappear!" . .

well I got dashes - - - - - - - well vertical ones anyway:

Mike? - Just repeated test and they won;t go away. Dashed lines or Continuous line - no option I can tell to have them invisible.

You sure that is what you are getting? I'm asking 'cos this option raised its head couple days back and the : View>Event Markers : is specifically for those that have been embedded into a rendered file. As a result of this, I thought I'd revisit the "Draw Markers" option in Preferences. And you say you CAN make them disappear? Don't tell everyone, or they'll round your house for some of it too - esp, the Madison programmers.

Ah! Now I've got them to go away!

I got amongst these options:

Scenario 1:

a) Always Draw Markers : DISABLED

b) Enable Snapping > ON

c) Snap to Markers > OFF

Result: MARKERS Disappear

Scenario 2:

a) Always Draw Markers : DISABLED

b) Enable Snapping > ON

c) Snap to Markers > ON

Result: MARKERS reappear as full drawn lines

Scenario 3:

a) Always Draw Markers : ENABLED

b) Enable Snapping > ON

c) Snap to Markers > OFF

Result: MARKERS reappear as DASHED lines

Scenario 4:

a) Always Draw Markers : ENABLED

b) Enable Snapping > ON

c) Snap to Markers > ON

Result: MARKERS as full drawn lines

Seesshhh .. glad I cleared that one up!
