John,

I know you've done probably as much testing with this tool as anyone, which is why I've singled you out; would you mind answering some questions about your workflow?

And actually, I'd appreciate comments from anyone that uses this tool.

Do you:

1. Run the test(s) on every disc that you burn, in the drive that burned it?
2. Test the occassional burned disc in the drive that burned it (when you receive a new spindle of blanks, for instance)
3. Either of the above choices in other burners or dvd drives.

Basic question is, is it best to run this on every disc you burn, and do you need to run it from the drive that burned it?

....and while we're at it, for the bonus round, if you were to buy two matching burners today, what would they be?

thanks all....
David

Good heavens no. Once I have measured what a given disk/burner/software combination gives me, unless I suspect a problem, I don't go back and measure again.

2. Test the occasional burned disc in the drive that burned it (when you receive a new spindle of blanks, for instance)

Yes, but again, only if I really suspect the new blanks are not what they claim to be.

3. Either of the above choices in other burners or dvd drives.

Just do it when you suspect something, or if the results is really critical. When I am about to duplicate 200 disks, I will often take the first disk and measure before I proceed.
