Q-1: Best Ways/Your Ways to Backup Files While Working?

I have Vegas 6 at this point. I still do work backup in the really old fashioned way in XP though it works:

a) I keep the folder in which the veg and veg.bak files are minimize. Within that folder, I have shortcut to the location of my Firewire backup drive where I backup all Vegas files.

b) Once I've done a bit of editing and wish to backup, I open the folder and drag the veg and veg.bak files I'm currently working on into that shortcut, click "Yes to all." Done.

I do use Cobian Backup for batch backups of various kinds, so perhaps another way to go, but curious as to how you people do it. Always open to most workflow efficient ways to do this.

Is it best to keep these on the system and app drive as per Vegas default --- or have this folder on the same drive/partition as the veg and media files Vegas uses (mine are on D:\)?

Maybe no biggie, but I like to help Vegas along in anyway I can..

Personally, I like using the "Save VEG" tool in Excalibur which can be used in place of Vegas' Save command. It will save the project three times - twice with the date/time appended - to two different folders giving you an entire series of backups. I figure safety in numbers. Scripts are definitely the way to go here.

Q-2: Preferences/General/Temporary Files Folder -- Best Location?

I move them to a folder I can find (i.e. out of "My Documents") and usually move them off the "C" drive.

OK, thanks for response. Got Q on one thing you said -- I don't have Excalibur or any other non-freeware addons for I just can't affford them:

"(...) Scripts are definitely the way to go here."

Are there any free scripts available to use within Vegas for such a purpose? Truth is is, I can deal with my old-school backup modality for it's not that hard, so more curious than anything else.
