QT 7.31 and Vegas 8 Pro

I've had several projects now that I've imported QT files into V8, gotten 1/3 way thru project and suddenly been locked out of my .veg permanently with the following mystery 'exception error"

After combing the Sony, DMN and Cow forums, then multiple reinstalls of Vegas and QT, I'm still without a clue. I've installed the 3ivx trial codec, the BitJazzSheerVideo trial, toggled QT Pro to advanced>safe mode only, etc...but nothing to date has worked.

In fact, now, if I even click on a QT file while trying to start a new project, I'm given the Exception Error and Vegas 8 folds.

Don't let QT beat my *ss- again. Help.

This half solves the QT issue at hand. Looks like I've got GO-HD footage that I've got to re-treat, but I've also got .flv to .mp4 encodes that also lead to an eventual 'exception error' in VP8, but unfortunately ONLY after you've got 3/4 of a program built- and are then locked out of it and it's .bak forever.
