Quality Issues?

I have several clips on my timeline (some are 23.976fps and some are 29.970fps). If I render as 29.970fps, will I have noticeable quality issues or would Vegas automatically convert it? If there will be quality issues, is my answer to convert the 23.976 videos to 29.970 (or vice-versa) and then render in that format? Thanks.

Are your 29.97 source clips interlaced? Will your render be interlaced? If the answer to both these questions are yes, then my recommendation is to definitely work in a 29.97i (60i) timeline and render to 29.97i. Disabling resampling on your 23.976 clips will add a tolerable 3:2 pulldown during render to 29.97i. Note: render at "best" quality.

If you're working with and/or rendering to progressive, you're going to have to live with either duplicated or dropped frames unless you're one of the few who can tolerate Vegas' resampling (frame blending) between these two frame rates. Other option is to use Twixtor or similar plugin to create tween frames for your 23.976 clips.

I would go the other way and normalize the project / render frame rate to 23.976, "probably" with resampling off. Experiment.

Musicvid10, interesting. I've always disliked the results of 30 to 24 conversion Do you find the dropped frames preferable to the judder frames?

All of my clips are progressive and final output will be progressive. It sounds like it's best to convert the 23.976 clips to 29.970 and render as 29.970. Thanks.

Atom12, I really don't like either, but dropping frames is easier on me than duping.
Whether either approach will look better resampled is a matter of choice; again, neither impresses me much.

Render out to 23.976p you'll be fine. I have done this many times no issue.
