Quattro drivers in Windows

Recently added an M Audio Quattro to my tools - seems good, but after installing the drivers, I can now use the Quattro to record in either of my Multi track programs - Logic and Vegas, but I don't seem to be able to use it with single track audio editors like Sound Forge and Cool Edit 2000. In these apps, it doesn't seem to get listed as an available audio device.

Connected to this, I think, is the fact that although the Quattro is listed, ( two entries, 1/2 and 3/4) under System > Hardware > Device Manager > Sound Video & Game controllers, it does not get listed in Control Panel > Sounds and Audio devices, under Audio > Sound Playback or Sound recording. It DOES however appear on the Midi playback section of the same page.

Is this normal, or is there any way of making the Quattro available for "simple" audio recording?

Is it possible that you have the Quattro set to ASIO/EASI mode? If so, this would not work in SoundForge. You would have to switch it to MME mode, then you should see it in the list of available devices.

BTW: I am not able to record or play back 24bit in any Sonic Foundry Products with the Quattro. I have tried it in Cubase and Nuendo, and it works fine. After contacting both Sonic Foundry and M-Audio, all I get is finger pointing and we'll try to look into it. Have you ever gotten this to work in 24bit mode with ACID or Vegas?

I bought a deeply discouted Quattro USB awhile back. As soon as I switched it over to 24 bit record, my input meters topped out and I got nothing else.... I posted to the ACID forum with no resolve. I posted to the M-Audio website with no resolve. So I returned it the NEXT DAY and ordered an Echo Mia instead. A 5 minute Mia install and never a problem with it since.

Avoid the Quattro if you can.

Thanks H2000 - MME did the trick.

Haven't been able to use 24 bit mode ... yet - but I'm still new to all these boxes, but from your experience I shouldn't expect too much. 16 bit will do me for the time being ...
