I have a music bed that I'm trying to edit, but have had no sucess. I am trying to make certain sections of the music go down to a low volume, at certain parts of the video where I have a voiceover, so the music dosn't drown out the voiceover.
Simple. Drop in a volume envelope from Insert on the Menu bar at the very top of Vegas' workspace. Then you add points by right clicking on the line. Next drag the points up or down to raise or lower the volume. Someone wrote a script to make it less time consuming. IF you need to get very precice, you can zoom way in on the waveform. You generally want a "U" shape to start with, (4 points) where you raise or drop the volume. Then once you got it roughly how you want you can slope the envelop to have a more refined effect.
Its covered in online help and in the full manual and is a step in the tutorial too.
Yuo - V4 and VV3 have Audio Envelopes. Noce functions that you can adjust with pin-point accuracy.
Go to Insert and select Envelope and choose audio. This will put a "line" on the audio. Now, if you right click on this line you will get an option to Add A Point. This will add a "node or point to the AE. You can now add as many points as you want. You can grab hoild of the point/s and pull them down up push them up and you can adjust the audio level to what you want. There are alos other functions you can use with this AE - what type of preset audio fade etc etc - there is also a neat little Script that is available from the Scrip[t web you could download that gives a quick and repeatable AE adjustment - this is only with V4 - yes?
1. Is there a way to monitor the various tracks as you mix? It's nice to keep an eye on relative levels, as well as the master level.
2. Can you "clamp" the top end levels, so to avoid over modulation and distortion?
3. Am in the middle of my first complex VV mix. Had split tracks when recording "live" with an external mike on the talent. Right hand track is excellent (tight, close), left ambiant. When I "right click>Channel>Right track", it all looks fine. When I "final mix" dupe to new track, it only is on the Right track. Want it on both.
By the way - you guys are the best.
