Pre-render all the video.

Take the video output of the DV converter, and send that to the VHS video in.

Take audio from your sound card or mixer and send that to the VHS audio in.

Put the VHS into record, hit play in Vegas...

I use the Sony Media Converter and it seems to work for me ... 1394 into the Sony Converter and the converter is connected to the Video / Audio in ports on the VHS unit. Then use the VV3 capture / print utility and print to tape. You need to press record on the VHS unit first.

Thanks both. I managed to figure this out before I read your notes. I used the print to tape feature of the capture program and clicked on "external monitor" and it sends both audio and video to the 1394. The trick was (duhhh!!!) the ADVC had to be set to digital instead of analogue because the output from the computer was digital even though I wanted analogue output. It's a nomenclature thing. Anyway, it works fine.
