Question about plugins

I've been kind of a regular visitor here at the Vegas Pro forum for some time now, but I know a lot of you visit and participate much more frequently than I do. Also a lot of you are definitely more knowledgeable about the capabilities (and bugs) with the latest version of Vegas Pro.

So my question is this, has anyone come to any kind of conclusion or hold an opinion about which company's plugins are more stable within Vegas Pro 11, NewBlueFX or Boris Continuum? I've been a long time user of NewBlueFX and have most of their plugins, including the new GPU accelerated versions, and I'm a big fan of the company, so please don't think I'm trying to stir up negative feelings about them. However I recently purchased Boris Continuum Complete, and so far at least on my system I haven't gotten any crashes yet (using Vegas Pro's latest update)

I like a lot of the plugins in BCC, but I would still like to use my NewBlueFX plugins as well, but they seem a lot more unstable.

Just wondering if anyone else has found this to be true, or have formed any opinions either way. Like I said, I like both companies products and know they are working to make them as stable as possible, so I don't want to say anything negative, I'm just looking for some opinions and maybe some advice.

Thanks,
Lee

I'm a big fan of new blue fx and used them a lot up until now. I upgraded to v11 vegas and got a new graphics card but found the normal new blue fx plugins to muck up the gpu acceleration. Using film effects and plugins like color fixer plus caused sony AVC for blu ray renders to have strange brightness flickering, and in 32 bit mode to have black frames.

I disabled the gpu acceleration because i loved using the NB fx but now leaning towards just using sony plugins because of the gpu. I really want to render to hd in 32 bit mode and using new blue fx plugins makes the render time unacceptable (like day and a half). It depends on what plugins you use, ultimately the end result of the NB fx i used can be achieved using the standard sony vegas plugins - basic stuff like color correction, contrast etc. I do love the new blue interfaces though, with the dials. The sony plugins with GPU are very fast, for both preview and render.

I just got the gpu version of video essentials so will be doing testing on that tomorrow.

I really like Boris Red a lot, and it is pretty much part of every video I produce. I have found it to be very solid/stable.

In addition to nearly all the BCC filters (including a number that are not in BCC bundle for Vegas), you also get the FEC filter set, the paint tool and the titling tool all seamlessly integrated in a full 3D compositing environment. I think it goes significantly beyond the just the BCC plugin. Red is to Vegas Pro as After Effects is to Premiere Pro. Like Vegas Pro you get both the 32 and 64 bit versions of Red which can run as both a Vegas plugin or as stand-alone application (though the stand-alone render formats are pretty limited). The only issue with the product is the cost. Fortunately, I qualify for academic discounts so it worked out great for me.

Yeah, I think I would like to get Red as well. But since I just plunked down a big wad of cash for BCC 7, I think Red is going to have to wait a few months.

Are the features in Red pretty stable when you use it within Vegas 11?

Yes, it is definitely stable in version VP10e, especially with the update release last month. I have not yet installed VP11, but I have heard from other users that it is stable with that version as well.

I fully understand about you not wanting to spend additional funds. Again, I am quite fortunate to qualify for academic pricing and would probably not have been able to purchase it otherwise.
