is there a 0X on your burner????

jk

I heard different things about this, but I think if the place you are sending to can accept images or anything, or 24bit files (with a TOC) it may be better to send them.

certain cd burners just dont burn as well as those they hav at the plants or the new "AM" (audio master") CD burners that are coming out now.

but I heard 1x or 2x is good, but i dont understand why

That would be ideal to send them 24 bit files but I'm actually laying out a pretty "complex" CD with intros in between tracks and such so I'm looking to send a CDR with it layed out just how I want it. If that makes any sense.

burn it as slow as you can. the faster you burn it, the more prone it is to error. and those are not necessarily errors that make the cd skip, they just slightly degrade the signal.

Buring at the slowest speed may NOT be the right thing to do. There has been may discussions in other forums on this subject and evidently some of the more modern faster recorders will actually have more errors at 1X/2X etc. Something was mentioned about 8X being a good point for the average burner available today- but I wouldn't take that as gospel.

The only thing I can think of is to burn the same material to various brands of media and at different speeds. You could then use checksum verifying software to find the combination with the lowest error rate. Try http://www.irnis.net/soft/acsv/

I have yet to do this but would be interested in the results of anyone else who tries it.

Here's a nice little bit of info from Bill Park at ProRec.com

http://www.plextor.com/english/products/Premium.html

Look into this one, it does error checking, with it's own software.
I think I'll be picking one up soon.

Go to www.prorec.com for more on the topic btw
