Question for those with MM problems...

This is probably a long shot but I was trying to figure out why Media Manager was working for a while with no problems and then got so buggy that I could not start even start Vegas on my system. The only thing I could think of was that I had installed the Ozone audio plugin Demo around the same time I started having issues. I have since uninstalled along with completely reinstalling Vegas and so far so good but I admit it is way too soon to tell.

How many people having problems with MM have Ozone audio plugin on their system?

Thanks,

Marc

No Ozone here, and MM is working fine. But I don't have masses of files like others. Maybe 3,000 mixed media files? I prune a lot and refresh the MM libraries. Lots of housekeeping. Maybe if MM crashes for me AND I don't have Ozone would also tell us something. Real sorry others aren't able to get MM to function as they wish. If it "crashes" on me I would be very frustrated to think I would need to disable it.

Not quite answering your question - But I don't have Ozone and MM IS presently working here.

I've got Ozone, and masses of files.
Ozone is just a Direct X plugin, so not sure what that would relate to, as MM doesn't use DX, it uses SQL. Are you seeing something different when you add/remove iZotope Ozone?
BTW, if you have Ultimate S 2.0, you have the iZotope Ozone engine.

I have MM but not Ozone.
I have about 3000 files (mostly audio) that I try to manage with MM. The thing crashes on my all the time while I am trying to tag the clips. (Adding tags to clips, creating new ones, etc.)

Finally giving up on MM for good.

Ah! I haven't needed to "use" tags. I tried to get an intelligent use of it, but still need to explore it. I just like the speed and intricate search and SEE features of MM. Nope, not doing tags here. Maybe that is it?

Like I said it was a long shot. Ozone has nothing to do with it (great program by the way). Vegas 6 is back to it's old crashing self again. Had to remove Media Manager again. Problem is that I need to access the clips so I keep having to unistall/reinstall vegas to get into the project.

Yes I am using tons of custom tags in my project on about 1900 clips.

Marc - I hear your pain .. .

Would it be possible - frustration allowing - to consolidate/delete/prune/remove your TAGS, just to see if things improve?

Might give you a pointer to what we have to do until it is fixed? - I like the Explorer ease with MM. I like being able to view and "see" unrendered Vegies. I wonder if making a "Specific" Library for a "Specific" Project might help? Not ideal, but maybe a way to reduce Brian time for RAM - if that is what is going on.

This is a real longshot but I think adding your own tags is where the issue is coming from. It might even be that somehow you are adding a tag name that's identical to something else. This is pure guesswork on my part as I don't need MM and therefore have it turned off but it might be worthwhile to try either not creating your own tags or making certain they have a very unique name, best way might be instead of naming a tag "Location" try "XY_Location".
