You can create JScript or VBasic programs with just a simple text editor if you'd like, but you would probably find that having some of the development tools, available from Microsoft, would help.

What are these tools and how does one obtain them? Thanks, Wobbly Boy

The tools that I refer to are the "Microsoft Visual Studio .NET" development environment. If you are doing a lot of Windows programs, I would recommend it. They don't come cheap, however. If you are simply interested in creating V4 scripts, then a good text editor, and a book on the .NET framework and the language of choice (JScript or VBasic) would probably be more appropriate.

Sorry to say that I've avoided both Java (JScript ancestor) and Visual Basic like the plague, so I can't make any recommendations on those. The .NET framework is common to both (and to all .NET languages) so there's probably a wide variety out there to choose from.

I am starting to look at JScript, though, since it has similar syntax to C++. Unfortunately, the first book I got (JScript .NET) was pretty worthless. At least I can give you one title to avoid...
