Question on Keyframing a transition

I know how to control an effect like a filter over time with keyframes, but I'm having trouble keyframing an Iris transition.

I want the iris transition oval to grow to a certain size, stop for a few seconds (i.e., "Hold"), then continue growing until the transition is complete. I can't get the keyframes to "hold" between two keyframes. Any ideas?

Key 1 - starting point
Key 2 - Iris 1/2 open point
Key 3 - (same as Key 2) Iris 1/2 open point
Key 4 - Iris full open.

The time between keys 2 and 3 will be your hold point. You can just copy/paste key 2 and place the new point wherever on the timeline.

Thanks Swarrine, but I tried that and its not working. Perhaps I'm doing something wrong. Maybe I'm not allowing enough time between the Hold keys to visually notice that its holding.... I'll try again tonight.

There is no way to keyframe transition progress. You could grab a b/w still of the oval and use that as an alpha mask track. With pan/crop or track motion you can do exactly what you want.
