question on upgrade price of V5

I currently have V4 and haven't decided whether to upgrade or not to V5. My question is, can I wait a cyle until V6 comes out and use my serial number from V4 to get the special upgrade price for V6, whenever it comes out? Or must one use the upgrade price only for an immediate previous edition? Did anyone get the special upgrade price going from V3 to V5?

If Sony continues its same strategy, yes, you will be able to upgrade to Vegas 6 using your Vegas 4 serial number. According to this upgrade page, you can upgrade to Vegas 5 for $199 from any of the following: Vegas Pro, Vegas Audio, Vegas Video, or Vegas 4.0.

for the promotional pricing through May 31, 2004. This was cheaper than most of the academic offers.
Vegas to V5 = $149
