Question regarding the W64 file

Zulqar-Cheema wrote on 4/26/2003, 4:02 PM
If I restart the PC and go to a project that has been pre-rendered, the audio always re-renders again (.W64 file) I have looked in the folder were the the previous file is and it is still there, the new one rendering into the same folder. I have not touched anything on the time line, so am confused why this happens, is this normal or is there a setting I am missing?

TIA

It's normal

WHY does it have to re-render jetdv?

Is there any way to avoid this?

Thanks!

Each time you PTT, the audio is rendered to a .W64 file - there is no way to stop this.

If you have a completely rendered AVI file, you can print using the capture utility WITHOUT having to render the .W64 file.

Why does it not delete the previous file?

I thought it usually did.

I am finding if you do a 24P/23.976 render than you can not print from the vidcap module. My DV output is fine from everything but that. For now I am stuck rendering out via "print to tape", which after 3 days of playing I am finding is actually a bit of a nightmare because of having to re-re-re render some things and also waiting for 90 minutes of audio to render is really a let down for me.

One of the "tricks" that I use is to pre-render smaller portions of any project that I'm working on, to a new track, with a custom render that I made which doesn't have any audio.
So the top track of all of my projects is filled with rendered (a approved) video - no effects. They remain on the lower tracks for revision, etc.
That way, when it's time to print the final video, a lot of it is "permanently" pre-renedered, and the prep for Print to Tape is minimal and reasonably quick.
