Questions

I've seen "update" mentioned in these forums, but can find no update at:
http://www.sonicfoundry.com/download/step1.asp?CatID=2

Is there an update available? My software was just delivered a few days ago, so I may already have the latest version. It's Build 160.

Also, another message I was reading seemed to say that the preset for DVDA should be avoided when rendering an MPEG2 in Vegas. Is this true? If so, what are the steps for doing it correctly using the manual settings for rendering an MPEG2?

Thanks

The update hasn't been released other than for beta testing. Supposed to be out sometime this week if everything was ok with it I guess. And build 160 is the latest version till the update is released. Can't answer your other question...sorry

It is recommended that you should use the presets for DVD-A (i.e. DVD Architect NTSC Video stream or DVD Architect PAL Video stream) and render the audio separately as PCM or AC-3.

If you use the "DVD NTSC" template, your audio will be recompressed as PCM or AC-3 (from MPEG audio) by DVD-A.

I render all of my mpeg2 files within Vegas then import the rendered file to DVD-A. If You live within the U.S., I would change from the default MPEG2 setting to the NTSC DVD setting. This has always given me good results. If you are in Europe, Japan, I think you need to use the PAL DVD setting.
