Quicktime 6.4 out -- which leads me to ask...

...the same question I've seen around here a few times but have never gotten a proper solution for: How do I render out to QT6 in Vegas?

I own QT Pro, and have downloaded the Custom version of QT 6.4, selecting everything but Quickdraw 3D. Vegas doesn't show QT6 as an option.

I recall SonyEPM saying something to the effect of Vegas allowing a lot of the codecs of QT6 despite only saying "Quicktime 5" in the template drop-down, but how can I be sure I'm rendering out to the latest (i.e. supposed best) version of Quicktime?

The QuickTime 5 file format plug-in requires a *minimum* of QuickTime 5.02. It will use whatever version of QuickTime that you have installed that is at least that version. So if you install QT 6.4, that is the version it is using for rendering (and reading) QuickTime files.

Unfortunately Vegas cannot dynamically change the plug-in name based on the version of QuickTime that you installed.
