Quicktime (no) Audio, Solution?? (Fixed!)

I searched and cannot seem to find a fix. Using Vegas 8.

I rendered several Digital Juice (Quicktime) items with embedded sound FX. None of them show/have audio on the Vegas timeline. Media Properties show audio as being "off-line" for each item.

The audio plays fine in the Quicktime player.

I tried different rendering sample rates and bit depths. None work in the Vegas timeline.

When I check it in GSpot, all I get is a "Not a valid AVI file." I ran GSpot on a QT element from somewhere else that does have working audio on the timeline and get the same "Not a valid AVI file" note.

That one element that *does* work in Vegas (got from somewhere else), Vegas Media Properties shows for Format, "16 bit Big Endian, 48Khz, 16 bit, Stereo." Not sure if this is significant. This is the one element that works (audio) in Vegas.

I have acquired a large quantity of Digital Juice products. I would certainly like to use them in Vegas.

Interestingly enough, all works fine in Premiere Pro CS3.

The PPCS3 media properties show:

File Path: E:\041_MDElement.mov

I am not switching to PP. I would, however, like to resolve this issue.

As per my forum searching, I did not see any audio properties available in the standard Quicktime Player.

Seeing several here use DJ products, I assume I am doing something wrong. I have no issues with the many DJ SoundFX.

Thanks for any help anyone can offer here. I very rarely have any Vegas problems. This might be a big one though, if not resolved.

Thanks!!!

Which specific DJ products are giving you grief?
I've got several of the Editor's TooKits as well as Jumpbacks and I haven't noticed any problems.
Let me know which one(s) they are and, if I have it, I'll try it and report back.

edit: are you using the latest (or close to it) version of Quicktime?

Mike:

I am not at my computer now, but this involved several files.

One for example (from memory), filename: 041_MDElement.mov, ETK2, I think disc 4 or 6.

It was pretty much a green bar that comes on screen from left to right and has sound FX. I own all 3 SoundFX libraries. I am prompted for one of those SoundFX discs as part of the render.

Close to it, yes. I do not remember the version #. When I updated to whatever the latest QT was at the time caused Vegas to choke on QT files (red timeline thumbnails). I restored my disk partition and did not update.

From what I can see, Vegas is the only program in which I am having trouble with Quicktime Audio. All works everywhere else.

Thanks much!!

I sent you an e-mail.

Thanks.

I received an e-mail from Digital Juice stating that they had fixed the Juicer Quicktime export issue where Vegas would not recognize the audio embedded in Quicktime files.

See:

http://www.digitaljuice.com/products/products.asp?pid=223&tab=t3#tabs

See Juicer 3.1, Build 104 beta.

DJ Tech Support said that this beta is just about to be released, so this is not a "risky" beta.

I installed it and it works great. Juicer-exported QT files with embedded audio now work like they should in Vegas.

Just an FYI...

Thanks.
