Quicktime render always make a temp & then copy?

When I tried to render a 7 minute movie to Quicktime yesterday it rendered a temp file, then copied the temp from to the same folder as the "real" file. Is this normal? It was going dreadfully slow. I normally don't use QT from Vegas and it was an option for a format to use.

Vegas 10 & QT Alternative.

That's the way Quicktime has always done it, don't know why.

That's annoying. Does it do it that way on Apple products too?

It might work differently inside the Apple environs...but AFAIK with my experience of using a number of Windows native applications that write QuickTime files (and not just inside of VegasPro) - the behavior is the same. I feel that writing with QuickTime Pro App on a Windows OS is the most seamless of all.
