i7-10700K, 8GB GTX 1080, 16GB RAM, Windows.

I frequently use this program for basic video editing, and I've noticed that at random times the program decides to start hitching and seizing left and right no matter what I do. It doesn't seem to be an issue caused by bad video files, since the files always play smoothly when initially imported as a project element. Once I start cutting events apart and editing things together, it's like stability starts to collapse and I put myself in more of a position for the program to seize for whatever reason.

I've turned on/off decoders, I've forced my GPU in preference settings, I've edited files that are a solid 60fps with the program and also edited files that are +100fps in a 60fps project file, and this is an inconsistent and indistinguishable problem for me. Nothing jumps out as "the problem" when it occurs. Sometimes restarting the computer fixes it, sometimes restarting the program fixes it, sometimes leaving and coming back 20 minutes later fixes it.

I'm desperate for assistance.
