The 32 bit version USED to have the black frame problem but then they upgraded one of the DLL files which killed the problem. I can't off hand remember which one for sure but I *THINK* it was m2tsplug.dll

8.1 appears in many respects to be the older Vegas version 8 (32bit) rewritten for 64 bit and it probably still contains the older DLL file in question. I don't know if the 32 bit dll is interchangeable with the 64 bit dll but you can give it a try anyway.

In any case you need to get all over SCS about this.

I'd not heard this reported yet from other 64-bit users, which makes me think the problem isn't inevitable.

Generally, when you're changing the preview settings you're usually flushing the preview RAM cache too. Vegas caches as it plays based on the preview quality setting. You might have better luck with a render if you close and reopen Vegas before starting that render. You could also turn off the setting that directs Vegas to display the render as it works, which ought to also stop any caching activity during the render.

In the end, it's still all voodoo. I don't think any users really know what causes this.

Very frustrating!
I've tried emailing SCS but as of yet no reply.
