ratio problem

I have captured a video into Vegas from a disc. Everything is tall and skinny. I found that if I right click on the clip, and uncheck "maintain aspect ratio" it fixes it. Or so I thought. It LOOKS right, but when I "make movie" it still turns out tall and skinny! What do I do?

You first tell us what kind of disk that is. Was it DVD? If yes, was the DVD supposed to be widescreen or not? Based on this information, you need to use the right project properties (load the project properties dialog), and maybe, right click the file on the media bin too and fix it there too if it's not a project properties issue but a file recognition issue.

Yes, it is a DVD and to watch it on my TV the setting is 16:9 aspect ratio. I have changed he "project properties" and it will look fine on the preview screen but when I "make movie" it always goes back to being tall and skinny!

Make sure your render settings are widescreen. Start with a widescreen template and that should take care of most of it.
