[Rays] Unwanted Pulsing Effect

Ciao,

I'm using the new Sony Rays effect on a PSD image with alpha channel (a blue woman silhouette), just 2 keyframes to pass from effect to none, but after rendering I have an unwanted pulsing effect.

There are only 2 KF (linear), almost same parameters, with changes on x position, Thresold & Amount (to pass from effect to none) and Hue (to change a little bit rays color).

Do anyone have this problem?

Thanks.

I've experienced some problems with using the Rays plug coming on from nothing.

If that's what you're referring to, the answer is to hit the rays effect as effect only on a copy of the clip above the footage you want the effect on, and then already have it on somewhat before you, and ramp up from there, and just fade it in where you want it to come on, and you're good to go.

Ciao,

thanks for your reply!

Here the problem I have...

As you can see there is a pulsing effect but it's totally unwanted.
I alreasy set as effect only with a fade to event without effect at the end, but the problem remains.
In the preview if I use a setting with FULL or HALF resolution I can see the pulsing effect, if change to Auto or Quarter all is ok.

What I need it's to decrease the Rays effect progressively, not to fade from effect to no effect.
The problem seems to be related to AMOUNT variation and QUALITY setting, if I change Quality to 62 all is good, but from 63 to 100 the pulsing effect comes out.

sounds like you found a bug that should be reported.

Unfortunately, i'm not able to help ya out with a fix beyond run it at 62 :)

Ciao,

ok, I'll make a report to SCS guys.

Here the animation with Rays at 62, looks fine, but could be better:

If you've stretched the clip in any way and it's a still image with automation on the rays, that could cause problems. I had a similar problem with the starburst plugin. I just needed to disable the stretch on the image length and relocate the automation keyframes to get it working.

Ciao,

do you mean in PAN/CROP?
No, my still image (PSD file with alpha channel) is exactly 1920x1080 as project settings, no kf in PAN/CROP just in Rays effect.

probably means in terms of time stretching ( CTRL+click&drag end of clip)
