HI all

Up to now I have edited my own tapes and those of freinds and famly for fun and very little money.

Now I have the chance to do something bigger and have some financial backing and I have several questions;

I've been looking at the Canon XM2 - is this good enough to film such things as corporate videos, weddings, etc? What other recomendations can be offered?

Is there any other equipment that would be deemed essential?

Any help would be appreciated.

Cheers.

1. Good audio (microphones)
2. Lighting.

Do a search in this forum for XLR, and you should find posts about microphones and audio. You will find posts such as this one:

I've got good mics but what about recording. what's the best option for recording the audio on to apart from the miniDV tape?

The XM2 is called the GL2 in the US and it is widely used for pro video. That will definitely suffice for the image. You may want to get a better mike and XLR adapter so you can use balanced mikes.

Have you got a good tripod?

I've some stuff from my stills photography days which will suffice while I build up the necessaries and bring in proper cash:-)
