Re: A well earned thanks to all here

I just wanted to say thanks to everyone who's helped me so far in my project. I am new to NLEs and found VV3 intuitive but also, at times, daunting. I have now managed to get to grips with several aspects (ripple editing, velocity envelopes amongst others) and it's all down to the help and advice offered here.

Cheers

I know I'll be back with more questions in time but I have learnt to use the forum as well as the manual (which is excellent) as first ports of call.

What's really nice about Vegas Video for videos is similar to Photoshop for still images in that each application can work at a very basic level with only a few minutes learning the most basic features and still give really good results. As you climb the learning curve you come to really respect the power of each application. I think many will agree you frequently get surprised and mumble to yourself gee I didn't know you could do that such and such way. Not only can Vegas do a lot of things it can do a lot of things a lot of different ways.

For example today I was having trouble getting the skin tone adjusted the way I wanted in some shots where people were sitting under a large tree with diffused sunlight coming through the branches. Normally I would just use Color Balance, Color Curves and Levels. Wasn't working the way I wanted. So more out of accident then anything else I tried adding Film Effects. About .030 grain, 120 on the default tint color, particle setting to dust. Then I added the Light Rays filter. Totally different and cool effect.
